We had a storm today while we were recording the Hymn of Comfort. It was so powerful and beautiful and terrible all at the same time. This is Holy Week, and we have a lot to reflect on the powerful, beautiful and terrible reality of what Christ endured. Wren’s Hymn of Comfort is When I Survey the Wondrous Cross, and she wrote the second part. I’m also including a video of the storm so you can see what we were watching while she played!
As the numbers continue to rise, and the curve is struggling to flatten, we realize our need! Here is Wren’s hymn of comfort!

Walks with Wren and Rick while birding and talking help me focus on the good parts of our current situation! I love Wendell Berry. Knowing and spending time in the same place is very important to him. His poetry demonstrates his understanding of place (his home).
In this poem, he’s inviting us to know about the place where we live. This opportunity is giving some of us the opportunity to be home- in the same place – much more than we might choose. I’m trying to notice new things, and things that change in this little one acre place I call home. I am thankful that I can also expand my understanding of place beyond my 1-acre yard so that I can visit forest preserves as well. Here are some of my favorite sightings over the weekend – many from out my sunroom window!

This is different…as we worshipped “together” tonight, we were missing being with everyone. Here is Wren’s hymn of comfort to start Holy Week. (You are hearing 3 parts, but I am not very good with video editing…so you only see 2 parts)
Here is Wren’s Hymn of Comfort for today. Hoping that our love reflects Christ’s love and can encourage our neighbors.
We love the hymn tune, Thaxted. It was written by Gustav Holst and is the theme from Jupiter (The Planets). The tune was used to set patriotic hymns until Ralph Vaughn Williams included the theme as the tune, Thaxted, in his Songs of Praise. This is Wren’s hymn of Comfort for today.

We went for a lovely sunset walk. All of creation was singing tonight! We were reminded just how Deep the Father’s Love is for us!
