Wren picked Amazing Grace for Wren’s Hymn of Comfort Today.
We might be at home, distanced from our friends and family, but God sends us reminders of his faithfulness (Amazing Grace). Today we were blessed with blue skies and flocks and flocks of cranes. When I looked at the pictures on my computer, I was delighted to see that there were Whooping Cranes mixed in the groups! This is a life species for me (some people actually keep a written list, I just keep a running list in my head (and bird book)). Whooping cranes are endangered, so it’s even more special to see them. I always scan groups of cranes hoping to see one or two, but I’ve never seen one until today… and there were several in this group. Sandhill cranes do not have black wing tips…whooping cranes do! Here are some photos:

It’s kind of hard to tell with the silhouette, but I think these are all sandhill cranes

Your music is beautiful! It has lifted my spirits on the rather grey day!
Thanks
Wren and Kristen, your music, your pictures and your words are ministering to my soul. Thank you. Thank you.
Thanks! It’s good for us to share!
We saw the sandhill cranes too! walking through Klein Creek Farm last Friday morning, Valerie, Charlie and I were surprised by loud repeated honking and flocks of cranes in beautiful formation swirling through the sky, headed north. The day was clear and chilly; we were the only visitors that day; the sunshine was a special blessing as we visited new lambs from behind the fence and verified that the maple tree tapping is in process. The beekeeper we encountered (from a respectful distance) identified the birds for us as sandhill cranes; they were headed to a nature preserve up on Army Trail Road that is closed to the public from March through October. The beekeeper also told us that he was very pleased that sixteen of his seventeen beehives had survived the winter.
This was a day of hope that I will remember for a long time. Wren’s cello music is another sign of hope. Thank you.
We just need to keep looking for those signs of hope! They are there!! I love cranes. The sound they make is one of my favorite things. Thanks for sharing your signs of hope! It’s especially encouraging to hear about the bees. We will keep posting music!
This is lovely, and what a blessing for you to see Whooping Cranes AND Sandhills Cranes.
